It’s been a while since we posted in the Journal but it has been far from quiet this year at AE, alongside delivering complex IFRS conversion projects and supporting our clients in a volatile financial climate, our year has been filled with dragons, ducks and soon to be hares. This menagerie stems from our long-term commitment to supporting Break Charity.

We are pleased to become a corporate patron this year and we have a special interest in helping Break facilitate training and apprenticeship opportunities to support the career aspirations of young people.  Break continue to expand their commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable young people in our communities and in particular this year, charitable funds have allowed their Moving on Team to provide mentorship for young adults moving on from care to help them achieve their full potential, irrespective of the challenges they have faced in childhood.

A whistle-stop tour of last year’s activities:

Dragons…we were very attached to McFly, our handsome Back to the Future inspired GoGoDragon, and couldn’t resist purchasing him at the charity auction so he could continue to be available to the public to be enjoyed by those whose childhoods were enriched by the DeLorean and hoverboards. After a year-long sojourn at the Odeon in Norwich to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film, McFly’s new home is the community gardens at NorseCare Bowthorpe Care village where he can be enjoyed by residents and visitors.

Ducks…this year, we again sponsored a duck designed by talented local artist Sally Adams. Scrooge McDuck was a popular fellow (raising £300 at the charity auction!) and the Grand Norwich Duck Race was a fun day out enjoyed by many. We look forward to the next race in August 2017.

And finally, we were honoured to be a finalist in the Corporate Patron of the Year category of the Break Silver Linings Award. A title won on the night by Timothy Hay and the Beeston group, a well-deserved award for his truly outstanding support for Break over the last few years.

We are now looking forward with anticipation to GoGoHares , which launches on 8th November and promises to bring many hare-raising (sorry) characters to the streets of Norwich. Suzi, our artist is busy creating a design and we will reveal the theme for the AE hare in the next few months.
